What is it?

The Elgato Video capture device will “transfer video from a VCR or other analog video source to your Mac or PC. Put family memories and family videos on your computer with easy-to-use software as it guides you through every step and turns your analog into digital.” This device will be able to capture video in the “universal H.264 digital format – ready for iPad, iMovie, Windows Live Movie Maker, and YouTube.”

Anyone who’s interested in converting their VHS cassettes into a digital format.

 

What is included?

This kit includes:

  • 1 Elgato Video Capture hardware
  • 1 composite-to-SCART adaptor cable
  • 1 composite video/RCA stereo cable
  • 1 user’s guide (written within inner box flap)

 

How does it work?

What you need

You will need a VCR player and a desktop/laptop to successfully convert your VHS cassettes. Either a PC or Mac computer can be used to receive the converter’s data.

Please note that this kit/items within this kit may be used to store and/or transfer your personal data. If you upload, transfer, or log-in to collect your personal data on any such devices in this kit, please remember to delete your data and/or log-out of your accounts before returning items to the library. Library staff will not always be able to check every item to assure personal data has been completely deleted. If you notice personal data stored on any device you borrow, please feel free to either delete the information or contact the staff at the library so we can delete the data upon return.

 

The Fine Print

  • This kit may be borrowed for one week. One renewal is permitted, provided there are no reserves waiting.
  • Borrower must be a MVLC library card holder with an account in good standing.
  • Must be picked-up and returned to the Ipswich Public Library Circulation Desk.
  • The kit will remain on borrower’s account until a staff member is able to check kit condition.
  • Fines may be issued for both missing/damaged kit parts or for the loss/damaging of the whole kit. The total replacement cost for this kit is $94.00.
