Chromebook Kit
What is it?
The Acer Chromebook C740 series laptop is a portable unit with a long lasting battery, providing those with or without a Google account access to a computer. Once connected with your own WiFi, this laptop will allow you to browse the internet. The Chromebook will also allow you to use the many Google account features, such as Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Hangouts, if you choose to log into your Google account upon booting up the computer. A corded mouse has been provided with this device for those more comfortable with mouse navigation instead of a touchpad.

- 1 Logitech B100 full-size corded mouse
- 1 user’s manual (laminated sheets on key ring)

What you need
You may need to charge the Chromebook laptop battery to use this kit. Although previous borrowers may leave the battery with some charge left, we cannot guarantee how long it will last, so putting time aside before you start your project to charge the battery with the provider charger is encouraged. You do not need a Google account to use this laptop. See manual to learn how to browse as a guest user.
Please note that this kit/items within this kit may be used to store and/or transfer your personal data. If you upload, transfer, or log-in to collect your personal data on any such devices in this kit, please remember to delete your data and/or log-out of your accounts before returning items to the library. Library staff will not always be able to check every item to assure personal data has been completely deleted. If you notice personal data stored on any device you borrow, please feel free to either delete the information or contact the staff at the library so we can delete the data upon return.
The Fine Print
- This kit may be borrowed for one week. One renewal is permitted, provided there are no reserves waiting.
- Borrower must be a MVLC library card holder with an account in good standing.
- Must be picked-up and returned to the Ipswich Public Library Circulation Desk.
- The kit will remain on borrower’s account until a staff member is able to check kit condition.
- Fines may be issued for both missing/damaged kit parts or for the loss/damaging of the whole kit. The total replacement cost for this kit is $193.00.
