Mission Statement
The Friends of the Ipswich Public Library is an organization dedicated to the enhancement of our Library. The Friends of the Library is governed by a board which meets monthly and has one annual meeting open to all its members.
Our non-profit organization raises funds – through dues collection and book sales – which are allocated to fund needs that fall outside the regular budget of the Library, such as:
- Children’s, teen, and adult programs
- Museum passes and booking system
- Books and other library materials
- Amenities within the library, such as furniture and electronic equipment
- Maintenance of the Children’s Room freshwater aquarium
In addition, the Friends sponsor the Louise & Hugh Johnson Author Series, which brings well-known authors to Ipswich 2-3 times each year.
We also offer scholarships. You may contact the Guidance Department of the Ipswich High School for details.
Bylaws (Approved 2021)
Revised bylaws were approved by the Friends Board at their December 2020 meeting and then approved by the FOL Members at their January 2021 annual meeting.
