CHILDRENBook ClubsBook Buddies – designed for third-graders who love to read! The focus is on reading age-appropriate books and learning about what kinds of techniques writers use to make a book interesting. Meets the third Thursday of each month, September through May. Radical Readers – for fourth and fifth graders who enjoy reading and socializing with other children who share in this pleasure. Each section meets every other Monday during the school year. Members read books from a variety of genres and focus in their discussions on character and plot development. The Sixth Grade Book Club – a book group for sixth graders. Meets one Friday a month from 5 to 6 PM during the school year. Book discussions are more student-initiated. While the main focus is still fun and friendship around books, readers will be working toward more authentic literature discussions. |
